Dallas Fire Apparatus Collides with Man in Wheelchair

A man in a motorized wheelchair pulled into a street crosswalk just after a Dallas fire truck began making a right-hand turn at the intersection, but the collision could have been much worse.

The crash was very low-speed because the fire truck stopped almost immediately. “The driver had just taken his foot off the break when he realized the chair was in his path,” a fire spokesperson explained. “It bumped and tilted the chair. He fell to the ground.”

No one in the fire truck was injured. The man in the wheelchair was taken to an area hospital after complaining of leg pain, but his injuries aren’t serious.
