Crimson Fire Appoints New President

Kevin Crump, the executive vice president and general manager of Crimson Fire, has been promoted to president.

Jim Salmi who had previously held the position, will retain his post as chief operating officer of Crimson Fire and president of Crimson Fire Aerials.

Crump, as president, will continue to report to Salmi and will be involved with day-to-day operational issues at the Brandon, S.D., plant, as well as responsible for inside sales, quality engineering, service and support and related areas.

During Crump’s tenure as executive vice president and general manager, manufacturing efficiency was improved and delivery times were reduced.

Salmi will continue to handle all functions for the aerial subsidiary, as well as finance, human resources, sales and marketing for both business units.

“Kevin is a hands-on leader who is committed to the principles of performance in everything he does,” Salmi said. “We are pleased to promote him to president of Crimson Fire and further expand his role.”

Crump has more than 20 years of manufacturing and management expertise, the majority of it in heavy-duty vehicles, including stints with Seagrave Fire Apparatus, where he served as director of operations, Optima Bus Corp, and Nova Bus.

Crimson Fire, a subsidiary of Spartan Motors with facilities in Pennsylvania and South Dakota, is a leading manufacturer of custom fire pumpers, rescues, aerials, quick attack vehicles and other emergency rescue vehicles.

Empire Emergency Apparatus, which serves western New York state, was founded in 2006 by Michael J. McLaughlin Sr., who has been serving the fire apparatus industry for 27 years in various management positions.

When Empire joined Rosenbauer, the dealership added Alan Francese, Matt Skrekla, Ted Fiorito Jr., Jim Tabor, and Tim Rouse to its team.

Frontier Emergency Products serves Arizona and southern Nevada and has been a leader in providing apparatus sales and service to the area since 1989. It recently moved into a new 15,000-square-foot facility to better serve its customers.

“Our primary reason for change is the wide variety of products that Rosenbauer has to offer,” said Mike Heston, president of Frontier Emergency Products. “Rosenbauer’s depth of products and options is something we did not have to offer to our customers in the past.”

Harold Boer, CEO of Rosenbauer America said he was pleased to add the two new dealers to the fold. “I believe they will be great assets for the Rosenbauer Group and all of the customers we serve,” he said.

Rosenbauer is a world-leading manufacturer of firefighting vehicles and equipment. In North America, Rosenbauer incorporates the international strength and innovation of a global company with the American manufacturing firms of Central States, General Safety and Rosenbauer Aerials.
