Copperas Cove (TX) Gets New Fire Apparatus

The Copperas Cove Fire Department will ring in a welcome addition to its fleet of vehicles at a ceremony next month.

The department is currently planning a “wet down ceremony” for the department’s new 103-foot ladder truck at the Central Fire Station, 415 S. Main St. No date has been set, but officials said it will likely be next month.

“The wet down ceremony is a traditional ceremony for the placing of new fire apparatus in service,” said Michael Neujahr, Cove’s fire chief. “On behalf of the city of Copperas Cove, we welcome the community to attend the ceremony to assist in the commission of this new vehicle.”

On May 7, 2013, the Cove City Council approved the purchase of the new truck. It was purchased for just over $1 million from Metro Fire Apparatus, and is currently housed at the Central Fire Station.
