Convoy OH Builds Improved Fire Apparatus

The Convoy Fire and EMS Dept. (OH) formed a committee three years ago with the goal to purchase a new chassis, use some of the current equipment on the present truck and build a new quick response fire truck, with no tax dollars involved.

A five-year plan was established with the help of the village in September of 2011, with the idea of the membership making annual payments for the next five years. Through the efforts of the members of the fire dept. and the generous donations from this small community, the goal has been met 3 1/2 years early.

In September of 2011, a 2012 Ford chassis was purchased from Statewide Ford and the work began. Hundreds of man hours in labor from the membership and some partnering with the village of Convoy made this goal a reality.

The brush truck was put into service in the spring of 2012. Thanks to the generosity of this great community, the amount of $45,000 has been raised towards this project. With fundraisers like the annual pancake day and community donations this fire truck has been put in service with out using any tax dollars.
