Commack (NY) Fire Apparatus Finds Second Home in TN

A fire truck that was formerly used by the Commack Fire Department was delivered in January to the Clear Fork Volunteer Fire Department in Rugby, Tennessee, reports Newsday.

The truck was valued at about $10,000, but was sold for $1,000 after the fire department learned the town had lost one of its few restaurants and a home in separate fires.

Long Island fire districts sell about 100 vehicles each year to departments elsewhere in the United States and even in South America.

A retired professional firefighter from New Hampshire who’d recently moved to Rugby helped find the Commack truck.
