Clinton Township (NJ) Auctioning Fire Apparatus

Clinton Township will auction a 1981 Mack CF686F12 pumper truck, refurbished in 1997 and with current certifications to fight fires.

The air-conditioned truck has an diesel engine, all-aluminum body, a four door enclosed cab with seating for six firefighters, 1,000 gallon water tank, a pump, hose, three ladders, a diesel generator, automatic tire chains, emergency lights, a siren and lots of other equipment.

But since no fire company has snapped up the surplus truck, it could end up in the hands of a collector or hobbyist, said Chief Marc Strauss of the Annandale Hose Company, the township’s volunteer firefighting unit.

The sale will be Thursday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. and minimum bid is $6,000.

Strauss explained that the township three years ago bought a combination pumper-tanker to replace two trucks, and while it disposed of the tender in 2010, this “Class A” pumper was kept.
