City of Avondale Arizona Takes Delivery of KME Ridgerunner

KME Ridgerunner Avondale NESQUEHONING, PA – KME and W.W. Williams, KME’s Arizona dealer, are pleased to announce that the City of Avondale Fire and Rescue has taken delivery of a brand new KME Ridgerunner™. The Ridgerunner brings the performance of a full pumper into the WUI zone so departments no longer have to choose between water and mobility. It brings large pumping capacity and a large water tank (up to 1,000 gallons) and combines them with pump-and-roll—all on a short package with a tight wheelbase which includes all NFPA 1901 pump requirements.

The Avondale apparatus will serve a multipurpose role for the city. It will be used as a front-line engine as well as for service at the Phoenix International Raceway. It will also be deployed as a Type 3 engine for wildland assignments, and will be capable of being used as a reserve engine if needed.

The Avondale unit can carry five department personnel, all necessary structural firefighting equipment, as well as wildland equipment. Key features for this unit include a 1,250-gpm rated water pump, foam system, stationary and pump-and-roll capabilities, a remote-operated front bumper turret, two booster reels, and 4×4 drive train.
