Voters in the Chateaugay-Brainardsville (NY) Fire District have voted to approve the purchase of a $527,000 custom pumper, according to a report published by The Malone Telegram.

The apparatus, a Sutphen pumper, will be paid for with fire department truck replacement reserve funds and installment payments over five years.

The truck is being purchased primarily because of the current apparatus is approaching 30 years old and at the end of its lifespan, according to the report.

More space will be afforded the firefighters when the new apparatus is delivered according to the newspaper, and money will be saved in the long run because of fewer repair and maintenance costs associated with the current engine.
