Charlton County (GA) Makes Fire Equipment Trade

Charlton County Fire Rescue Chief Terry Johnson asked the commissioners to give approval for an equipment trade with Camden County. In the deal, the CCFR will get a short Class A pumper for the Georgia Bend fire station.

Charlton will give Camden a recently acquired military truck and water tanker in an even trade. The county purchased the truck for just $100 as military surplus.

GA Bend VFD Chief W.D. Turner recommended the trade, saying he knows the truck from 2011 when it was used here during the wildfires.

The Charlton County Fire Board also recommended the deal, which was unanimously approved by the Charlton County commissioners.
