A malfunction caused a Charlotte fire truck to overturn on its way to a separate emergency call last week.
A report from the Charlotte Fire Department says the crew was headed down a hill on Ardrey Kell Road when the auxiliary brake failed to engage
The truck skidded as the driver attempted to turn the truck right on Bridgehampton Club Drive, and then rolled onto its roof.
The truck briefly caught fire after the crash.
Speed has been determined to be a factor, but firefighters were headed to a medical call at the time. No charges will be filed.
The fire department says the driver’s duties have been rescinded pending further investigation. An internal investigation will be conducted.
The damage is estimated to be $800,000.
