Charlotte County (FL) Fire and EMS is getting a new fire station and five are being rebuilt with some of the funds raised from a 1 percent local sales tax, according to a report published by NBC 2.
According to the television station, all six projects will cost millions to complete and three will be funded by the sales tax and the other three projects will be funded with impact fees, which is money paid by developers to the county when they build projects.
Fire stations 3, 6 and a brand new station 17 are funded by the sales tax while station 2, 5 and 10 will use impact fee money, according to the television station.
