Champion Rescue Tools will showcase a Volvo XC90 cut-away SUV in the company’s exhibit booth at the Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis April 23–25.
The XC90’s skin is peeled back in strategic places to show the interior details of door and roof post construction as well as other safety features. Champion said the interior view of the passenger compartment provides firefighters with crucial information to improve vehicle extrication techniques.
“Volvo’s increasing participation in Champion Rescue Tools’ training efforts has already resulted in hundreds of firefighters in California learning how to cut apart 5-star crash rated automobiles with the latest technology rescue tools,” said Carl Haddon, Champion’s National Training Director.
Champion is the sponsor, along with Volvo and leading fire equipment manufacturers, of the no-cost 5-Star Extrication Training Academy.
