Cayce (SC) 1936 Fire Apparatus Restored, Heading to Conference

Cayce Historical Museum curator Jeff Kirkland took responsibility for the restoration of Cayce’s original fire truck, reports Cola Daily.

The 1936 REO Speedway fire truck has headed to the Columbia Metropolitan Convention center and will then return to the museum.

Repairs during the nearly two years of restoration included: rebuilding the engine, adding missing parts, a new carburetor, rebuilding the brakes, sandblasting and painting the body. One of the most unique parts of the restored truck is the windshield glass, which was cut from a shower door and made to fit the dimensions.
