According to witnesses, a white Cadillac was coming across 7 mile on the service drive as though it was about to get on I-75. At the same time, there were two Detroit fire trucks already in the intersection with lights flashing and sirens blaring.
They were headed toward a working fire a few blocks away.
Shavera Lipscomb and her mother rushed home to find firefighters battling a blaze inside their home. One of of the few homes on that block hadn’t already burned. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case.
“I don’t have anywhere to live anymore. I’ve lived here all my life. There’s so much stuff going on around here. It’s just a mess.”
Firefighters managed to save the home. Even while short-handed they would have been able to do an even better job if the whole crew made it there.
