Cantankerous Wisdom: Report from the Shows Part 1

By Bill Adams

During every trade show season, fire apparatus manufacturers promote their newest and greatest rigs.  Apparatus pundits rush to show them in the fire journals. Most photos are the industry-accepted politically correct front driver’s side ¾ view. Included here are some smaller things that stood out at a recent trade show. Sometimes smaller things make life easy on the fireground. All fire departments are different and specify features that work for them. This is not disparaging them or the people who built their rigs. Fully equipped apparatus taken out of service for a tradeshow represent the real world.
