Burns Township (MI) Welcomes Home Vintage Fire Apparatus

Burns Township Board Trustee Bill Bowers and his wife Judy have made a $5,000 donation to bring home an antique fire truck, reports The Argus-Press.

A contribution of $1,000 from Beard’s Country Store in Deerfield Township was also made. The original asking price for the truck was $7,000, but the private owner came down to $6,000.

The 1938 Ford fire truck remained in service until 1978. The fire truck’s long history includes being featured in a 1950s ad for Atlas Tires.

Burns Township Fire Chief Wade Prestonise said the fire truck could spark conversation and may interest some in working at the fire department.
