Bridgeport CT Gets New Fire Apparatus

Tower Ladder 5, the Bridgeport Fire Department’s new fire truck, has been unveiled at fire headquarters. The new 100-foot ladder truck, includes a large platform at the top, a lighted ladder way, air bags and an electric Hurst Jaws of Life tool. The $1.1 million apparatus was funded by taxpayers.

A fire official said the apparatus is expected to provide 20 years of service. The new addition replaces a 20-year-old truck which will now be taken out of service to be used as a spare.

The city now has six ladder trucks, four active and two spare.
