Bessemer (PA) Puts New Fire Apparatus into Service

Bessemer firefighters put a new truck in service last week.

The borough put $8,500 in repairs, upgrading and re-lettering into this 1984 Ford 2,200-gallon pumper tanker after it was purchased from Shenango Township for $15,000.

The new vehicle replaces two aging pumper tankers, a 1984 Ford and a 1983 Mack, which will be taken out of service.

Fire Chief Louis Laughlin said the truck was “a good deal” and a pumper tanker would cost about $250,000 if purchased new.
