A paramedic was fatally struck by a fire company pickup truck while responding to a crash in Harford County Tuesday afternoon, reports wbal.tv (http://bit.ly/1yyelas)
Authorities said the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Co. was called around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of Patterson Mill Road, where a car had run off the road into an embankment. The injured occupant of the car was at a nearby house, and fire officials determined they needed a four-wheel-drive vehicle to access the person in the extreme weather conditions.
A fire company pickup truck equipped with a snowplow was called to the scene and started to proceed down the driveway when it started to slide, striking the paramedic.
Crews treated the paramedic at the scene and took him in grave condition to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where he later died.
