Bedford VA Fire Apparatus Flipped on Call

A Bedford (VA) fire truck flipped while responding to a call in Saturday. The 2007 Seagrave Marauder II, valued at $540,00, is the Bedford Fire Department’s newest engine.

Fire Chief Brad Creasy said that insurance adjusters have yet to look at the engine to determine the estimated cost of repairing the fire truck, or if the truck is a total loss.

In the meantime, an older spare engine has been placed in service to cover calls.
Firefighters from Moneta and Big Island staffed the Bedford station until 8 p.m. Saturday to allow Bedford firefighters to deal with the accident.

The four firefighters involved in the accident are all recovering at home, and have not returned to duty.
