Bedford (MA) Buys Two New Fire Apparatus

A recently approved order for two new fire trucks will give the city’s emergency responders the equipment they desperately need.

The new pumper trucks are just two of the dozen vehicles the city added to its fire, emergency medical and public works vehicle fleets this year.

The city also purchased new ambulances and a rapid response fire boat. Officials also acquired a surplus off-road fire truck from the Air Force.

The total cost of the new vehicles is about $2 million altogether. Some vehicles such as the plows were purchased with cash while the pumpers were bought using a lease-purchase agreement.
