Bear Creek (FL) Resident’s Decommissioned Fire Truck Saves the Day

Residents of Bear Creek last week found themselves under an evacuation order thanks to the Bertha Swamp Road fire. Luckily for them, Brandon Sochor was nearby. Also fortuitous was his 25-year hobby of collecting knick-knacks.

According to a report from mypanhandle.com, Sochor’s 1989 Ford fire truck helped battle the flames.

He purchased at auction last year the decommissioned (from the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department), fully operational fire truck. And, when things got heated, literally, he didn’t hesitate to put it into action, the report says.

Some neighbors in the fire industry were able to drive and operate it, and, thankfully, no houses were burned by the fires.
