A Victorian, Australis, firefighter is recovering in hospital after being run over by his own fire truck while battling a grass fire.
The 42-year-old CFA volunteer had been called out to Rushworth, south-west of Shepparton, after the small fire took hold overnight.
He was standing in the back of the CFA tanker at 1 a.m. local time Friday when he slipped off and hit the ground as the vehicle was driving off-road, a CFA spokesman said.
The firefighter was clipped by the rear wheels of the tanker, which was driving at a low speed, he said.
He was flown to Bendigo Hospital, where he is recovering from pelvic injuries.
