Attorney Dies After Being Hit by Lexington Fire Apparatus

A 27-year-old woman who died after being struck by a Lexington (KY) fire truck had been in town for the USA Track & Field Club Cross Country Championships.

Lauren Woodall Roady of Washington, D.C., was an attorney with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. She was married earlier this year.

The Fayette County coroner’s office said Roady died of multiple blunt force trauma.

Lexington Mayor Jim Gray said full details regarding her death might not be available until early next year. The mayor expressed his sympathy of Roady’s family.

Police said the fire truck was on a non-emergency trip to pick up crew members and that its siren and warning lights were not in operation when Roady was struck. The truck was making a left turn when she was hit, the police report said.

The police report offered no other details “pending a thorough investigation.” Police were reviewing surveillance camera footage in hopes of learning more details.
