When one of their volunteers didn’t have a ride to the prom, the Arvada Fire Department came to the rescue.
AJ Novotny and his prom date, Kelsie, are both in wheelchairs.
AJ’s mother said she had trouble finding a limousine that could accommodate their wheelchairs.
That’s when members of the fire department decided to give the pair a ride to the dance — via a fire truck.
“Our administrative volunteer AJ had a special request to have a fire truck at his prom pictures. We were honored to be able to do just that… and surprise [him] and his date with a special ride to prom dinner on Engine 52,” the department posted on its Facebook page.
