The fire protection district has taken possession of a new half-million-dollar fire truck, reports The News-Gazette.

Nearly half of the fire department’s staff turned out to welcome the new engine, which was paid for by taxpayer funds.

The truck has a six-person cab with a 1,000-gallon water-hauling capacity and replaces a 1988 engine. Posted to the district’s Facebook, “We will be spending the week getting her ready for service! While we are sad to be retiring old reliable, we are excited for the upgrade.”

Alexis built the truck to the department’s specifications. The entire process took about 10 months.
