Arab (AL) Fire Chief Working to Acquire Fire Apparatus

Arab (AL) Fire Chief Ricky Phillips had applied for a grant through the federal government to get a new truck, but the program ran out of money before it approved the grant.

Late last year the Arab City Council set aside $450,000 for a new fire truck from bond money. Phillips was able to buy a demo model truck that was close to new. He got it for $298,000.

That left $152,000 in bond money to pay the match for the grant, if it had been approved. It wasn’t, but Phillips still had the $152,000 in his budget to play with.
