A new rescue truck is a little closer to becoming a reality for the Amory (MS) Fire Department after it received a $30,000 check toward the purchase, according to a story published by the Monroe Journal.

The newspaper reported the donor, who has previously donated to the local police department and funded the community’s K9 unit, the newspaper reported.

Amory’s fire chief said the current rescue truck is a 1995 model and was purchase for use on extrication calls, the paper reported. The replacement truck will be four-wheel drive, the newspaper reported, adding that the current truck is limited by being just two-wheel drive.
