Three Ashland (VA) Volunteer Rescue Squad ambulances caught fire at Fire Station 16 Thursday, Feb. 27, 12onyourside.com reported.
Shortly after 10 p.m., officials received reports of a fire at Fire Station 16, located at 203 Duncan Street, the report said.
It took crews 45 minutes to put out the fire, the report said. No one was injured, according to the Ashland Volunteer Rescue Squad.
In addition to ambulances, the building also houses quick response vehicles, transport units, and ATVs the squad deploys for special events in town, wtvr.com reported.
“We appreciate the overwhelming support and prayers from our community,” the Ashland Volunteer Rescue Squad said in a Facebook post. “We are deeply saddened by last night’s fire. We are extremely grateful to our Hanover firefighters for their exemplary service and, most importantly, their safety. Fortunately, no one was injured, and we will move forward collectively as a family and community.”
Hanover is redirecting resources to ensure emergency responses aren’t impacted, according to the report.
