Service Upgrade Brings 24/7 Paramedic Coverage to the Community
MERCED, California — The Merced Fire Department recently announced a significant enhancement in emergency medical services for the community, the department said in a press release.
Starting Jan. 1, 2025, Engine 53 will be officially upgraded to Advanced Life Support (ALS) status, providing 24/7 paramedic staffing. This milestone represents an important step forward in emergency care, ensuring that life-saving medical interventions reach residents faster and more effectively.
To commemorate this achievement, the department hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Station 53.
This occasion marks the culmination of years of preparation, training, and certification. “This new level of care means faster, more advanced medical treatment during critical moments,” said Interim Fire Chief Casey Wilson. “We are proud to bring this enhanced service to our community, ensuring that residents have access to the highest level of care when every second counts.”
