Since 2016, the Hardeeville Fire Department, with support of the city council and city manager, has continued to enhance its Emergency Medical Services, the department said in a recent Facebook post.

An estimated $500,000 was invested in a new ambulance (Medic 83), which includes the equipment required for the unit to have advanced life support capabilities such as a cardiac monitor, blufftontoday.com reported. The new Medic 83 is now in service.

“Medic 83 is our first advanced life support transport ambulance,” the department said on Facebook. “This will serve the middle area of the city, reducing response times. We look forward to serving our citizens with superior prehospital medicine. Hopefully we are able to expand our ambulance fleet in years to come to better serve our citizens.”
