Braun Delivers Bariatric Ambulances To El Paso

Braun Industries delivered seven new Braun Chief XL Type III ambulances built on the Chevy C4500 chassis, six with bariatric capability, to the El Paso (Texas) Fire Department.

The deliveries were made through Braun’s distributor, LFG El Paso Truck Services, a division of LTG Fire and Emergency Services, out of Albuquerque, N.M.

Braun describes the Chief XL ambulance as the most versatile product that it produces. The Chief XL is available in Type I and Type III configurations and is available on the Ford, Chevy and Dodge chassis platforms.

The seven El Paso units are equipped with Braun’s exclusive EZ-Glide door, MasterTech III multiplex electrical system and all welded aluminum interior cabinets. The chassis has a Duramax diesel engine and an Allison EVS 1000 transmission.

“With the delivery of these seven units, El Paso now has 22 Brauns in its fleet, said Braun Executive Sales Manager Chad Brown. “El Paso’s previous 15 units were the Chief XL Type I ambulances on Ford F-450 chassis.”

By comparison, he said the Chief XL on the C4500 platform reduces the overall length without sacrificing module size and is more maneuverable.

The bariatric system in six units includes a winch and Braun manufactured ramps to accommodate obese patients.
