Alliance Volunteer Fire Department Seeks to Buy New Fire Apparatus

The Alliance Volunteer Fire Station is looking to add a new fire truck for their department.

Fire Chief Troy Shoemaker says one of their current fire trucks is 25 years old, so it needs a replacement.

He says they started the process in October, and the Rural Board will begin looking at bids tomorrow.

“The truck that we currently have doesn’t have a phone system on it, it doesn’t have the ability to pump and roll, meaning it can’t spray water while the truck is still moving, so those are some of the technology things that they’re looking at replacing,” says Shoemaker. “The current truck also only has 2 wheel drive, so the new one will have 4 wheel drive so we can use it as a rural truck.”

Funding for the truck is coming from the Rural Board and Shoemaker says a ball–park amount will be $366,000.
