Albany NY Firefighters Perform Aerial Truck Exercises

Albany (NY) firefighters are performing aerial truck exercises as part of their annual training.

All 154 firefighters have to climb the 100 foot ladder on the aerial truck. At the top, they train with the aerial fire hose which shoots up to 1500 gallons of water a minute.
Firefighters must prove that they can handle the work both physically and psychologically.

Firefighter Michael McClendon said of dealing with the psychological element of being nearly nine stories up on a ladder, “The secret is, it’s a mind thing. You just focus. Take everything out of your mind and go to climbing. Think about what you have to do.”
