An Albany Fire Department ladder truck was stolen and recovered in Schenectady, reports Times Union.

Colonie police are investigating the crime. The fire truck was on the property for training use for new recruits to Albany’s Fire Academy. The property’s gates were not closed and locked.

Surrounding surveillance systems were knocked out due to storms in the area. But, police recovered forensic evidence — including potential fingerprints and DNA.

Fire protective equipment was stolen from the building. Some equipment was recovered inside the stolen truck. A pair of boots, a helmet and an air pact remain missing.
