Alabaster AL Approves $1.3 Million for Fire Apparatus

The Alabaster City Council (AL) voted to borrow $1.3 million to purchase a new fire truck and several vehicles and pieces of equipment for the city’s Public Works Department.

The city will pay the loan back over the next five years, and the equipment purchased with the loan will have a useful life of 10-15 years, said Alabaster City Administrator George Henry.

In addition to the new fire truck and its equipment, the money will be used to purchase a half-ton four-wheel-drive pickup truck, a three-quarter-ton two-wheel-drive pickup truck, a one-ton dump truck, a tractor, a tandem dump, a skid steer, a backhoe and a grapple truck and other equipment for the Public Works Department.

The items being purchased for the Public Works Department total about $600,000.
