Fire Apparatus Rig Tour-Pierce Quantum Tiller

Truck 61, a 2012 Pierce Quantum tractor-drawn aerial (TDA) is in service with the Winter Park (FL) Fire Rescue Department. According to Jimm Walsh, division chief, many of the compartments are lined with ¾” high-density polyethylene plastic (HDPE) with spots for the tools routed into the boards. “Everything was mounted in-house by the guys that are assigned to the rig,” he says.  “The rig is set up with a very logical flow with the fire type equipment on the officer’s side and the rescue equipment on the driver’s side.” He adds that all tools assigned to personnel are in specific compartments so they don’t have to open multiple doors for common runs. All gasoline-powered equipment was intentionally stored in one transverse compartment that is vented only to the outside—not in between compartments.
