At the 2013 Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC), W.S. Darley will be introducing several new products, including a new company division focusing on the home fire sprinkler market.
Jason Darley, pump division account manager for the company, which is well known for its pumps, states that from a pump manufacturer’s standpoint, he expects to see a focus on minimizing spatial impact on the apparatus from the pump house, while continuing to provide the same flows and functionality required to fight large scale fires. “I think we will see three main focuses promoted: a drive toward integrated technology-based innovations at the higher end of the budget spectrum; a focus across the budget spectrum on multipurpose apparatus; and cost-efficient solutions in the form of program vehicles focused on meeting the need of the end users in repeatable and reliable products,” he says.
As for Darley introductions at FDIC 2013, the company’s pump division is releasing the Solution Series™ HM 500 Module, a compact 500-gpm pump module that provides the functionality found in a full pump house in a compact space. “We are also displaying our UHP-HV, a combination ultra-high-pressure and high-volume pump designed for skid units, our LDMBC 1,750-gpm/220-CFM midship CAFS, our PSP 1500 compact PTO-driven pump, our ZSM 3,500-gpm midship pump, PSM 1,500 gpm midship pump, and several of our portable pump models,” says Darley.
The company’s new division is the result of recently acquiring a residential sprinkler company. Darley will introduce its STS™ (self-testing sprinkler) system that tests its response capabilities and readiness on a biweekly basis and generates a report sent in test or email form.Introducing new division of Darley, we have recently acquired a Residential Home Sprinkler company and are releasing our STS™ system (Self-Testing Sprinkler) a revolutionary product in the home sprinkler market providing both homeowner and insurance companies with peace of mind as the system tests it’s response capabilities and readiness on a bi-weekly basis and generates a report sent in test or email form.
“Our Purifire™ Division is releasing several new water purification products designed for the first responder,” says Darley, including the Versa Sea Pak 200 desalinization system, Advance Oxidation Module, Versa Fresh RO reverse osmosis system, as well as several self-contained water purification products for individual use.
The company will also show its LE600 trailer, a 600-gpm self-priming pump mounted on a trailer. Darley has received an order for 1,500 LE600 units.
“Our Apparatus Division, Pump Division, and Polybilt Division have combined to showcase an F-550 combined with 1,250 gpm/220-CFM PSMC CAFS pump, Polybilt™ body, with a number of unique offerings in a compact response ready mini-pumper,” Darley adds.
One of the benefits of exhibiting at FDIC, Darley states, “FDIC continues to be a must-attend for the fire industry, both from a manufacturer or supplier standpoint as well as from a firefighter’s. Both the trade show and the extensive training opportunities make this show unparalleled. No show in the North American market provides the supplier the opportunity to interface with the sheer number of attendees—approaching 30,000—or the quality of attendees and decision makers. On the training side, it is simply amazing the number of opportunities that exist and are delivered in a single week. If the budget only allows for one event a year, this would be the place to make your investment.
