The Yulan Fire Department will be getting almost $44,000 in federal funding to buy new extrication equipment.
The Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is providing the money, U.S. senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced. It will be used for a new “Jaws of Life” tool, a large cutter, a small and large ram, and a hose and fittings.
The department’s current extrication equipment in 30 years old and difficult to service and find tools for, the senators said.
