Sandy Springs GA Approves Fire Apparatus Purchase

The Sandy Springs City Council (GA) unanimously approved the purchase of six new fire trucks and a change order resolution regarding the North Fulton radio system.

The city will buy the trucks for a total of $4.7 million, with a trade-in of $1.2 million, leaving the city to finance a total of $3.5 million, which is allocated in the fire department’s budget, according to Finance Director Karen Ellis.

Four of the new trucks will be quints, and the remaining two engine-pumpers.

The city also unanimously passed a resolution authorizing a change order under contract with Motorola for the purchase of radio communications equipment, amending the contract to add the cities of Alpharetta, Milton and Roswell.

The total price of the equipment, not to exceed $16 million, will not change. When the city approved the contract in December, it was the sole purchaser of the equipment and did so to receive discounts with Motorola.
