A proposed schedule to replace aging fire equipment used by Oscoda Township firefighters was provided to the township trustees last month, as requested.
Superintendent Robert Stalker said its purpose is to receive feedback from board members as to whether it is responsive to their earlier requests. The board members expressed consensus it is.
Township trustees had asked for such a schedule for replacing fleet equipment, should voters approve fire equipment millage request in November. The 0.9 mill would generate about $254,000 per year, based upon 2014 taxable values.
The schedule proposes a five-year equipment replacement plan, based on the proposed five-year millage. The timing is based upon a combination of priority and available funds, said Stalker.
Projected purchases for 2016 would include replacement of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), as well as replacing 1986 wildfire blazers, payment on its 2013 Pierce fire truck and various budgeted equipment, a total of $230,000.
