New Owner for Minnesota Fire Equipment Business

Midwest Fire Equipment & Repair Co. in Luverne (MN) has a new owner.

Sarah Atchison along with family members Lyle and Jane Gessell bought the business with help from a variety of financing sources, including The First National Bank in Sioux Falls, Prairieland Economic Development Corp., Southwest Initiative Foundation and the Southwest Regional Development Commission.

Proceeds were used to purchase the building, equipment and business assets.

Midwest Fire Equipment was founded in 1987 to design and manufacture fire apparatus vehicles, such as tanker trucks used by municipal and volunteer firefighting departments worldwide.

Atchison has experience working side-by-side with her husband, Dean, in manufacturing. He owns Spectrum Aeromed in Fargo, which manufactures air ambulance equipment for aircraft and designs air ambulance medical interiors.
