Livermore (ME) Gets Grant for Firefighting Gear

The Fire Department will use a $2,000 safety grant from the Maine Municipal Association to help buy two sets of turnout gear for firefighters.

Each set costs $1,745, Administrative Assistant Carrie Castonguay said.

The department will pay $1,490 toward the gear and the money will come from its budget.

Livermore is one of dozens of towns that were awarded a Safety Enhancement Grant from MMA. Per a release, 146 applications were received and $151,621.44 was awarded. Grants are awarded in May and October each year to be used to buy safety equipment or services that assist in reducing the frequency and severity of workplace injuries.
