Jackson County (AL) FD Acquires Wildfire Suppression Equipment

JACKSON COUNTY, AL – The Macedonia Volunteer Fire Department just received 22 pairs of turnout gear, lighter than conventional bunker gear and ideally suited for wildfire operations.

The new equipment comes after the department acquired a truck from the State Forestry Commission as well as rakes, blowers, and a skid unit for the new truck. All of the upgrades were intended to help the Department become more effective at fighting wildfires.

After a lot of fundraising and determination to get the equipment, Chief Jimmy Jones with the Macedonia Volunteer Fire Department said they live in an area where it’s greatly needed.
