Gavin County (OK) Fire Tax Helps Buy Equipment

A county sales tax approved by voters last year is starting to pay off for fire departments throughout Garvin County (OK).

Most recently, three county commissioners approved using the tax money for bunker gear and equipment for Elmore City’s 16 firefighters.

Elmore City Fire Chief Eddie Stewart said the fire department he oversees is now starting to use the tax money to get gear and equipment updated in a much needed way.

In February, both Elmore City and Wynnewood fire departments were given approval to buy the gear needed to better outfit them for battling grass fires.
