Orlando International Airport won a nearly $6.3 million grant Tuesday to repair a runway and buy a new fire truck, according to the office of U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla.
The airport’s western-most runway will have its shoulders repaved and some joints rebuilt.
The fire truck, which costs more than $650,000, has several special features for dousing a burning plane, including a tank that holds 3,000 gallons of foam. The truck must be ordered and will not be delivered to the airport for a year.
