FEMA Grant Would Aid Kittanning Dilemma

Kittanning Hose Co. 1 applied for a $750,000 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant to help provide for a new fire truck. Of that total, $200,000 would be matched by the fire department, reports The Kittanning Paper.

Kittanning Hose Co. 1’s aerial truck was locked within the Borough’s garage in June after Borough Council opened bids to sell the truck. Now, firefighters are hoping a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant could replace it.

Hose Co. 1 last received federal grant dollars approximately five years ago for equipment upgrades.
The fire department is also seeking help from the local municipalities they assist during emergencies.
