Department Uses FEMA Grant to Upgrade SCBA

DIXON, CA – The Dixon (CA) Fire Department recently received a $146,000 grant through a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant to replace self-contained breathign apparatus (SCBA) purchased in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The department also used the grant to purchase new testing equipment to help standardize tests that ensure the SCBA fits properly. Health and safety, which has emerged as a focus for departments throughout the country, came into play as the department also decided to use some funds from teh grant to implement a respiratory protection program.
