Thomas Creek Westside Fire Protection District has placed decals on a fire truck, reports Lake County Examiner.

For months the fire department had participated in parades, events, and responded to fires with their new fire engine without the decals.

The 1998 fire truck was purchased from a fire department in Hillcrest (NY) and will replace a truck from 1984. Fire officials said the 1984 truck was becoming outdated and was spending more time getting repairs than in service.

The new fire truck is expected to make it easier to put out grass fires, structure fires, and complete structure protection duty. The new engine features multiple storage compartments, and additional gear, which the previous model lacked. One of the new features includes a line on the front bumper which helps it combat grass fires.
