Engine 861 began service with Lucas (TX) Fire Rescue on April 19, 2019. This engine features a Pierce Enforcer cab/chassis with seating for 4 and two rear-facing EMS cabinets mounted on the side walls of the cab. A Coleman Mach 8 Roughneck AC-Heat unit (15K cool; 6K heat) mounted over the center of the cab provides auxiliary climate control when the apparatus is not in use. The apparatus is constructed of standard aluminum with side roll and frontal impact protection. Full-depth compartments and AMDOR roll-up doors are featured. SCBA storage is located adjacent to the rear wheel wells on each side.

The power is provided by a Cummins L9 450-hp engine and an Allison 5th Generation 3000 EVS 5-speed transmission with pushbutton controls. The TAK-4 independent front suspension system is featured as is the Pierce Command Zone advanced electronic and control system.

The apparatus has a Pierce single-stage 1,500-gpm pump along with a 730-gallon polypropylene rectangular form-fitting tank. The engine has pump-and-roll capability which is standard on a PUC engine. Foam capabilities are provided by a Husky 12 Foam System with a 20-gallon foam cell. Foam is plumbed to the front jump line, the two lower crosslays, and the booster reel.

The hose bed features an aluminum tread plate cover and carries 700’ of 5-inch LDH, 550’ of 3-inch hose, and three 50’sections of 1¾-inch hose. Two high rise packs consisting of 100’ each of 1¾-inch hose are part of the hose load. The front bumper tray carries a 100’ Scorpion Load of 1¾-inch hose. Two lower crosslays (150’ each of 1¾-inch hose) and one upper crosslay (300’ of 2½-inch hose) are located in a semi-enclosed compartment behind the cab adjacent to the pump panel. Two sections of 5-inch LDH are stored in the front side body compartments. A Hannay booster reel with 150’ of 1-inch hose is mounted above the pump on the right side. An Elkhart Cobra EXM 7200 Electric Monitor (with wireless remote) with an Elkhart Select-O-Matic Nozzle (1,250-gpm) is mounted above the pump panel. Ladder storage on the left rear of the hose body carries 3 ladders (one Duo-Safety 900-A 24’ 2-section, a Duo-Safety 775A 14’ roof, and a Duo-Safety 585-A 10’ folding ladder). A Little Giant Model 13 folding ladder is stored in the right front body compartment.

Warning lights include a Whelen Freedom IV-Q (81 inch) Lightbar with Whelen M6 and WIONSMC LED lights on the apparatus body. A Roto Ray is mounted on the cab face and a Whelen TANF65 is mounted on the rear body. Scene lighting is provided by Whelen Pioneer lights on each side of the upper body (model PCPSM2) and model PCPSM1 lights adjacent to the cab doors. The brow light is a Whelen Model PH2. Audio warning devices include a pedestal mounted Federal Q2B siren and a Whelen Model 295HFSC9 electronic siren module connected to two Whelen SA315P 100-watt speakers mounted through the front bumper. The traditional bell is mounted on the right front bumper corner.
